Lil Wayne starts 1 year jail bid
After a couple of months of delays including dentist appointments and courthouses burning down, today Dwayne Carter aka Lil Wayne was finally sentenced to 1 year in prison for gun possession charges.
The rapper will spend the year at notorious Riker Island jail where it is said he will serve his sentence under protective custody, meaning that he will be separated from other inmates.
Despite the fact that he'll be in jail, fans will still be seeing plenty of him as he has pre-recorded at least 10 music videos all to be released while he is incarcerated.
Wayne signed off to fans via his twitter page with the below tweet
"Law is mind without reason, I'll return."

Notorious BIG - 13 years today
Today marks the 13 years since Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G passed away in Los Angeles on March 9th 1997.
He really was a rap superstar in his time and the fact that his music is still popular and relevant to this day attests to that.
I wanted to post my favourite B.I.G track and 'One More Chance' immediately came to mind.
I LOVE this video and have always imagined what it would have been like to be at this party..

KiD CuDi - 'Pursuit Of Happiness' x 2
I don’t know why but I’ve found KiD CuDi slightly annoying since my friend and I encountered him backstage with Kan Weezy (Kanye West) at a festival last summer..
Anyway he has not one but two videos out for his track “Pursuit Of Happiness” which was produced by electro duo Ratatat who have worked with the likes of Bjork and Animal Collective and also features MGMT on vocals.
Watch the original video here;
The constant champagne swirling and shot taking makes me want to jump on a plane straight back to NYC and head to the nearest bar. Also the strategic placement of Drake popping bottles only add to the intended glam feel.
There is sooo much alcohol in this video that I feel like they should have had one of those 'drink aware' notices scrolling along the bottom.
CuDi has however made another version of the video which hit the web a couple of days ago. I quite like it for the randomness and think it goes with the song more than the original.
Watch it here;
Musically I would say that the production and the chorus sung by MGMT are my favourite parts of the track, CuDi’s lyricism is just ok for me on this.
What do you think of the track, which video do you prefer?

Estelle new video - Freak
I watched a snippet of this a few days ago but today was the first time i've watched the entire video and I must say I really like it. From the space theme to the midnight blue hue and Estelle's short bob, it all looks great.
This video also harps back to the days of Missy Elliott’s Super Duppa Fly which is probably one of the reasons I really like it.
Watch it here;
On first listen it didn’t sound like there was much to this track apart from the borrowed Soul II Soul chorus, however after a few listens it is starting to grow on me.
Here is Missy Elliott's video for comparison..
Missy.Elliott.-.The.Rain.(Supa.Dupa.Fly)

Ps: I also think Kardinal Offishall sounds a lot like Ludacris on this track..

Lady Gaga, Beyonce - Telephone
So Lady GaGa and Beyonce have collaborated again, on another song about phones!
Thankfully this Gaga led and Darkchild produced track is so much better musically than their previous collaboration ‘Video Phone’ click for previous post.
Listen to it here:
The girls have just finished the video which is due for release this Monday March 8th and will feature cameos from Tyrese and New York rock band Semi Precious Weapons.
I’m sure this latest video will be well worth the wait!

Friday chune! - Leona Lewis - Hope You Forgive Me
This song has been in my head since yesterday morning so I decided I would make it my Friday chune!
This is probably one of my favourite Leona tracks and the video has that typical American RnB pop style look about it.
Hope you forgive me!

Nicki Manji, Young Money and Lil Wayne New video - Roger That
After days of leaked pictures from the set, the Young Money, Nicki Manji, and Lil Wayne alliance have finally released their video for ‘Roger That’!
Of the three Lil Wayne has the strongest verse on the track and sounds as he says “sharper than Gillette”. Young Money is well on his way to proving he has more tattoos than Lill Wayne and Nicki Manji delivers with her usual flair.
Young Money : Roger That (ft Lil Wayne,Nicki&Tyga)
The comic book style concept is also pretty cool and the beginning of the video which shows Nicki lying on the heart shaped bed is very Lil Kim esque. Word is Manji has taken over as the new queen bee of the of the female rap world.

Tinie Tempah - Pass Out
Tinie Tempah’s killer collaboration with DnB producer Labyrinth has set him up to reach the top of this week’s charts.
Listen to it here;
Tinie Tempah - Pass Out
by RMG-UK
The single ‘Pass Out’ was the very first track Tinie worked on after signing a deal with EMI records back in October last year.
His flow effortlessly blends with the superb baseline provided by Labyrinth and this combination has led him to peak at number one in this week’s iTunes charts.
With such a huge buzz created from this first single we can only expect great things from his debut album 'Disc-Overy' which is set for release this summer.

Beyonce concert ends in gunfire
Fans were shot at by waiting gunmen as they left the 300,000 capacity Parque de Exposicoes venue following a Beyonce concert in Brazil.
Police stepped in by firing shots back at the gunmen in a effort to protect the crowd as they waited for taxis outside the venue.
Beyonce was unhurt and only minor injuries were reported after the incident. This was the second in a handful of concerts that the singer was due to perform in Brazil.
The star had also been in Rio to film the video to the Alicia Keyes single 'Put It In A Love Song' (not my favoirite tack) and will also be in the UK next week for Tuesday's BRIT Awards.

Rihanna Video Premier - Rude Boy
The third video from Rihanna's latest offering Rated R has hit the waves!
It looks like Rihanna has taken things back to her West Indian roots with the bright colours and the occasional Buju Banton style bogle dancing..
Despite just being released, the video has already been compared to M.I.A’s Boys which you can watch here and compare.
She may have ‘borrowed’ a few ideas, but I really like this video and it’s certainly a bit more upbeat than her first two efforts for Russian Roulette and Hard.
Plus I would love that studded gold bodysuit in my size, although I’m not sure where I would where it...
